HelenMirren.jpgThe amazing Helen Mirren has just joined Inkheart alongside Andy Serkis, Paul Bettany, Jim Broadbent and Brendan Fraser in a fantasy tale about a man who can bring characters from books to life simply by reading about them, and his daughter who must save his life. Kathy Bates is also in negotiations.

The news comes from Variety through Empire, and it sounds like an tale that could be visually spectacular. Or is it just another kids film to add to the queue?

The film is adapated from a book by Cornelia Funke and is brought to life on the screen by Iain Softley who brought us Skeleton Key and the very enjoyable K-PAX. I tend to think this has great potential and could be one of these films which will appeal to all age groups.
